Welcome to World History! Below are helpful links and instructions that can help you throughout the school year:

ONLINE TEXTBOOK ACCESS
This is how students will login from a) a BYOD device at school, or b) from home.
1) https://www.hmhco.com/api/external-sso/access?sp=ed&connection=GA-Cobb-00209531&t=v
2) They will be prompted to login.
3) They can login one of two ways:
a. Office 365 login: If the student does not know their Office 365 email address, have them login to StudentVue to access it, or a parent can access it through ParentVue and help their child with it.
b. Student ID: They would need to include SCH/ in front of their student ID as their username and then their school computer password (i.e. SCH/1234567 and then password used to login to the computer at school).
Final Mini-Project
Instead of a traditional final exam, we will do a mini-project that examines the Cold War through a popular song, "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. Below are links to information that will help you complete this project:
"We Didn't Start the Fire" Music Video
Project Instructions, Rubric, and Song Lyrics
Cold War Terms Defined
Be creative! I do not have one set way to complete this project. If you would like to create a video, poster, PowerPoint....it does not matter to me. As long as each word contains the information from the rubric on the bottom of the instruction sheet, I do not care how it is presented. PLEASE read instructions thoroughly when completing this project! You may use any resource that you would like, including class notes, your textbook, Internet sources, and more.
This final project is worth 20% of your grade, and can only positively impact your grade. Please complete your own work! Project duplicates from multiple students will not be accepted.
Project will be submitted through Google Classroom, and is due by 11:59PM on Tuesday May 19th.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Do not wait until the last minute to complete this, or ask for help.
UNIT 12
5/13/2020 - 5/14/2020
Over the next couple of days, we will wrap up our unit on the Cold War. After further discussion with other teachers, we have decided to have a mini project take the place of a cumulative final. The mini-project will be on the Cold War, and will hopefully be a refreshing change from a big cumulative final. In order to help you prepare for that, I have complied resources that will help you develop an understanding of the Cold War. Please use these resources, along with others that were previously posted in this unit:
Cold War PPT - Part 1
Cold War PPT - Part 2
Cold War PPT - Part 3
Cold War PPT - Part 4

Welcome back! Hope everybody had a safe and healthy spring break. Today we will begin our Unit 11 study, which discusses the time period between World Wars, and World War II. With the new grading policies and procedures in place, I know that some of you may choose to not continue with the submission of assignments. I do encourage you, however, to access some of the materials and resources that we will be using in this unit, including some awesome videos and documentaries.
I am working through all of your emails from over break, and updating the grade book accordingly. By the end of the regular school day today, I will have all emails responded to, as well as grades posted in Synergy. REMEMBER - if the grade does not positively impact your grade, then I did not put it into Synergy! I still have some assignments that were submitted before this distance learning period that are in the grade book as "zeros" for some of you. Please thoroughly review your grades and let me know if you have any questions.
Today, we will start the unit by watching the second episode of The World Wars series. You can access the episode by clicking this link. *Please start video at 3 minutes and 40 seconds in*
In Google Classrooms, an assignment is posted with questions from the video. Please complete Part 1 of the questions (should be able to answer questions 2 - 14, question 1 will be completed throughout).
We will watch Parts 2 and 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and answers will be submitted as one assignment then.
* PLEASE READ*
Dear Students and Parents:
Hope you are all having a great spring break so far, and that you are all staying safe and healthy. I want to send out a message regarding grades, because I know many of you have had questions about grades through March 13th, and the process going forward. Hopefully this post will help clear some things up:
Here is what I need each student to do:
I know this is an unusual time, so I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this together. I hope to be as helpful as I can throughout this process. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Crash Course World History: The Cold War

Vocabulary assignment will be posted on to Google Classroom shortly. Notes and content information will be found on the blog.

* PLEASE READ*
Dear Students and Parents:
Hope you are all having a great spring break so far, and that you are all staying safe and healthy. I want to send out a message regarding grades, because I know many of you have had questions about grades through March 13th, and the process going forward. Hopefully this post will help clear some things up:
- Cobb County has stated that all entered grades from March 16th and on can only help a student’s grade. If a student is fine with his or her grade as of March 13th, that is the grade that he or she will receive in a course.
- World History gradebooks have not had any new grades from March 16th and on entered in, and are currently updated through March 13. The current grade in Synergy would be the grade that we began distance learning with.
- This does not mean that this is the final grade that you may choose to receive. Students may continue learning online until he or she has received the grade that they desire for the class.
- I have had some assignments turned in without names that can impact overall grades. If you have a question about an assignment, please reach out to me. ([email protected])
Here is what I need each student to do:
- Thoroughly look at your gradebook in Synergy. If you have any questions about grades (missing assignments, zeros, etc.) please reach out to me. I will work with you to accommodate any questions that you may have. ([email protected])
- If you were not in class on Friday 3/13 and would like to take the Unit 9 test or turn in Unit 9 Notes and Vocab, you can still do that. Please let me know if you would like to do that.
- After reviewing the gradebook, please let me know if you would like to keep your current grade in Synergy, or if you would like to keep learning until you have a reached your desired grade. REMEMBER: Per district policy, online grades can only improve your grade.
I know this is an unusual time, so I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this together. I hope to be as helpful as I can throughout this process. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

4/3/2020

- Go to joinmyquiz.com (It may ask you to register with your name and email)
