Today is the last day to submit assignments before grades are finalized! Please take today to finish up your personal finance project, stock market project, LTAs, or any other assignment that you would like to turn in for credit. All work will be due by 11:59 PM tonight!
I will also check the EverFi personal finance quizzes as well. If you would like credit for those, they must be completed by 11:59 PM tonight. No exceptions!
Please let me know if you have any questions throughout the day today.
5/11/2020
We will continue working on your Personal Finance project. Remember - project will replace your lowest test grade!
Projects will be due by midnight on Tuesday May 12th.
5/7/2020
Continue working on your Personal Finance project. If you have any questions, please let me know.
5/6/2020
Today we will start working on a Personal Finance project to finish the semester. We will NOT have a final in this class. This project will replace your lowest test grade from this semester. All projects are due the last day of finals- May 12th at 11:59pm. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Project directions and submission space will be on Google Classrooms. There is an instructional video that will help you complete it as well
I urge you to do this project, not for the grade, but the experience. This is one of my favorite parts of the semester and I feel that it really helps you understand a budget and living on your own in the future.
ALSO - I know many of you have asked about your Personal Finance grade in Synergy. At the end of the semester, your overall grade in Econ will be your grade in Personal Finance. So if you end Econ with a 94, your Personal Finance grade will become a 94. I have not received instructions on when I am allowed to change them, so for right now they have not changed.
UNIT 5
Unit 5 LTA
Unit 5 Test - Tuesday 5/5
5/5/2020
Today we will be taking out Unit 5 exam. We will be using Quizizz instead of CTLS for this test. Quizizz lets me monitor you in real time, and gives me data on question and test completion time, and should be a little easier to use. Here is how you will access the test:
Test can only be completed from now until midnight tonight! That is the only window open for you to take it. If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck!
5/4/2020
Today we will review for our Unit 5 exam. The exam will be administered through Quizizz, and will be open starting at 8:30am tomorrow morning.
Here is a study guide that goes along with the notes and materials from Unit 5.
Once you have reviewed that, here is the Unit 5 study guide with answers.
As always, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
4/30/2020
Today we will spend time working on our Unit 5 LTA and finishing up Personal Finance modules on EverFi. Please continue to turn in work as it can only improve your grade.
Monday 5/4 we will have a review session, and Tuesday 5/5 we will have our Unit 5 test.
4/29/2020
Today we are going to look at different types of investment options, and what you can do with your money. Please review the second portion of the Financial Institution notes today, and examine the difference between a savings account and a certificate of deposit, stocks and mutual funds, and the risk/reward that is associated with each. This information is covered on slides 7-13.
Financial Institutions Notes (PPT)
4/28/2020
Today is an EverFi workday. Please continue to work on the modules until you have the desired quiz grade average.
We will have a Unit 5 test on Tuesday 5/5.
4/27/2020
Today we are going to look at financial institutions and the options that you have when saving and depositing your money. Please review Financial Institution notes today, and note the similarities and differences between a bank and a credit union, and payday loan companies and title pawn lenders. This information is covered on slides 1-6.
Financial Institutions Notes (PPT)
4/23/2020
Today please take the time to catch-up on Unit 5 LTA work, along with EverFi personal finance units. Remember - average of 7 EverFi module quizzes will count as 2 quiz grades at the end of the semester.
4/22/2020
Today will be an LTA workday. LTA assignment has been posted in Google Classroom. Please work on this today, and look at your overall grade for this course. If you have any questions about assignments, please let me know.
I will be updating the gradebook today with any recently turned in assignments.
4/21/2020
Today we will continue with Unit 5 and evaluate different types of taxes. Please review Unit 5 notes (especially slides 11-13) and post any questions you have to Google Classroom.
This is a short unit, but will have the most significance as you enter the real world soon.
4/20/202
Today will be an EverFi/Personal Finance work day. Remember - I will take the average of the seven unit quizzes and count them as 2 quiz grades. For many of you, this will help your overall grade! You can also take the quizzes as many times as you would like.
Please take today to work on these modules. Let me know if you have any questions.
4/16/2020
Today we are going to work on our Stock Market Project for the last time in-class. We are going to sell our stocks, complete our BUY/SELL sheet, and complete our final journal entry. Here is your task list for today:
Stock Market Project will be due by 11:59 PM on Sunday 4/19
4/15/2020
Today we will take a look at Unit 5 notes, especially different types of insurance and insurance terms. Even though Unit 5 is the shortest unit of the year, it will provide you with the most personal benefit of any unit so far.
Please review Unit 5 notes today, and jot down any questions that you may have. Post them in Google Classroom, and I will answer them throughout the day.
Tomorrow, we will work on our stock market projects. For many of you that want to improve your grade, this is a great opportunity to increase your test and major grade average.
4/14/2020
Today we will begin looking at Unit 5, which is personal finance. Here is your task list today:
I have also posted your Unit 5 LTA above. This will be due at a date TBD next week.
I am returning your emails as quickly as I can regarding grades and the end of the year. If you have any questions, please continue to let me know.
4/13/2020
Welcome back! Hope everybody had a safe and healthy spring break. Wanted to give you all some updates, and hopefully answer questions that you may have regarding the new grading policy and the end of the school year.
Grades
By the end of the regular school day today (around 3:30pm or so), I will have all of your grades updated on Synergy. These grades will include your online assignments as well. REMEMBER - if the grade does not positively impact your grade, then I did not put it into Synergy! You will not be penalized for not turning in an assignment or completing an assessment. If you would like to turn in late work or complete an assessment late, you have the option to do so.
Stock Market Project
The Stock Market Project will count as a major test grade if you would like for it to. By now, you should only have your final assessment left. If you would like to complete your stock market project and turn it in for a test grade to improve your grade, you are more than welcome to. Link for Stock Market Final Assessment can be found here (using close price from Thursday April 2nd) . You do not have to turn in your stock market project if you do not want to, as it can only help your grade. You can email me your submission if you would like to complete it.
EverFi Personal Finance
Like other assignments, EverFi Personal Finance modules are optional and can only impact your grade. The original plan was for you to complete all 7 modules, taking the quizzes as many times as you would like, and I will take the average of those 7 and count it as TWO quiz grades. If you would like to improve your quiz average, you can complete all 7 modules. I will only count the quiz average if you complete all SEVEN modules.
I hope this helps answer some of your questions. Again, I will have all grades updated by the end of the regular school day today. Your assignment today is to work on EverFi Personal Finance modules and complete the seven modules quizzes to help improve your quiz average. After reviewing your grade, please let me know if you would like to continue learning, or will accept your grade that is in Synergy.

4/2/2020
Today we will be taking out Unit 4 exam. We will be using Quizizz instead of CTLS for this test. Quizizz lets me monitor you in real time, and gives me data on question and test completion time, and should be a little easier to use. Here is how you will access the test:

- Go to joinmyquiz.com (It may ask you to register with your name and email)
- Enter code 317757
- Complete the test. Be mindful of the timer on each question.
- Watch a short video on how to properly complete your BUY/SELL sheet, and how to access the final journal entry (Link here)
- Complete BUY/SELL sheet, and complete final journal entry (using close prices from April 2nd)
- Stock Market Project will have an assignment submission space on Google Classroom. Since you cannot turn it in with a binder or cover sheet, please attach all files from rubric to the submission area. I would prefer that all of your work be neatly typed but if you hand-wrote some of the journals, please take pictures of your work and place them there. REMEMBER: Stock Market Project will count as a Summative Assessment (test grade), which can only improve your overall grade!
- Complete a Credit and Credit Card Webquest. (Google Doc version can be found in Google Classroom)
- Wen finished, submit it to the assignment turn-in space in Google Classroom. Webquest will be due Wednesday April 15th by 11:59 PM
